How many protein drinks do you have per day?
Great topic Nrgpumping. A few gym buds drink up to 4 a day which I feel is too many. A quick shske post workout and a casein shake before bed. All other protein should be obtained via food intake.
4-5 shakes per day here...morning, pre-workout, post-workout and before bed and sometimes one in the middle of the night when i wake up for a pee.
exactly the same here, don't even need to set the alarm at night as i know after drinking over a gallon of water during the day the old bladder does the awakening for me
Usually 2 whey (pre/post), 1- 2 weight gain, and Casein before bed...... I know, but I have a HARD time eating more than 3k!
I take only one protein drink per day but am starting to think maybe I should take 2.
I take a total of 6 shakes a day, 2 shakes that has 50gm of protein and the other 4 has 60gms,2 mass gainers and 4 protein shakes.
20gram pre workout 80grams post work out 80gm before bed
Here protein shake junkies :
I need to get me a part time job and start drinking some more protein. I only do around one or 2 a day of 50 mgs each....Anyone has a favorite protein they use? Soi etc?
post workout and first thing on my days off, if i feel my diet hasn't provided me with enougth i use them as a top up....
I'm into 3 shakes - hemp powder at 10am, casien+whey blend at 1200hrs, and casein+whey post workout.
When I am on the road, I like to drink Isopure - it is a light/clear whey supplement that tastes pretty decent packed with BCAA's and 40g protein and no carbs. When I am home I make my own protein shakes using a whey powder that I buy in bulk (10lb buckets for $60) from a Canadian company in chocolate, vanilla or strawberry. I add a lot of my own stuff to it such as fruits, peanut butter, rolled oats, flaxseed oil, etc.
I usually wake to a protein shake (50g), then an hour later breakfast. An hour and a half later, a shake and an hour or so later, lunch. Then a shake, then dinner, then a shake, etc.
I misstated myself - my protein is made right in my home city of Syracuse, NY!

Can you PM me that?
I have to have protien shipped in to me from Miami as of the shelf prices here run over $100 for 5 lbs! Pure soy is cheap but too many debates on the use of it for AAS pourposes....
I purchase from Vitamin Warehouse at 3990 New Court Avenue, Syracuse, NY 13206. Their website is www.vitaglo.com
The product is whey protein and is made by Infinity Nutrition (Syracuse, NY)
54g after work out 30g casein bed time
330gms every day, 1.5gms x 220lbsi split that into about 8 a day mixed with water.
morning, afternoon, pre-workout, post-workout is when I use whey, usually about 40-45g bedtime I'll take 50g of casein.
1 for breakfast and one post-workout.. Real food boys is the foundation of muscle.
Real Food: I keep reading this ----- Just don't understand the science of it- "why"?
Not that it matters much to me - I like to eat real food!
I agree real food I don't drink any protien shakes.
I would rather buy a whole chicken and eat it then drink something that im going to shit out 75% of it.
You can't beat real food, agreed. Contrapositively, try eating even 200g of protein per day while keeping your fats, cholesterol and carbs in check. Even if you could stomach it through whole food, you could not possibly properly time the ingestion for proper nutrient timing/optimization (or hold a job or do anything else for that matter because you'd be eating ALL day).
I know this threads old......But this is spot on.
Protein drinks are for pure convenience because it's extremely difficult to get the protein and calories you need purely from straight food.
Unless you have no job and a hired chef. Working full time it's damn near impossible to eat like that through straight food.
Thats what they make wraps for you fill them with protien and veggies rice beans and a little hot sauce and I put down 250-300grams a day no problem. Just wrap them in foil and like you said eat all day workout sleep repeat.
Not only wraps either there are plunty of different ways to get the food down. My problem is with all the water I drink I don't want to drink protien it also really messes up my stomach and then I can't get the meats and beans protien down.
I do agree that as a supplement to protien shakeshave there place I just don't believe in every day multiple shakes
Goodluck and good gains brother
2-3 shakes a day.
One post workout and one before bed. The third happens sometimes if im too lazy to eat or make real food.
One post workout and sometimes anothor one at night. I try to get my nutrients from whole foods.
2 shakes, 1 as a treat fruit smoothie, and 1 post work out.
2 per day.
1 in the morning and one post workout.
However, I think people choose how often to take their shakes in accordance with their purposes. A beginner who wants to gain weight fast will drink more shakes per day. A big man full of muscle who wants to keep his muscles.. also will drink more shakes than me. But those who just want quality mass and easy gains will drink 1-2 shakes per day.
