Description, stats, concerns and expectations:
This cycle is simply finishing a free promo cycle that I stopped that went south due to the source had under dosed gear Sustanon. I have enough previous stash from a prior cycle to finish this one for 8 to 12 weeks (pending my results at the end of 8 weeks will determine if I continue through to 12) The total cycle was ment to be 16-20 wks. My goals at the start of this cycle was to add as much mass and strength as possible. After gaining 15lbs too quickly (dbol was legit and calories was high) I adjusted my calories down to 300-500 calories above my TDEE 3731, therefore Im keeping my calories at or just under 4000 daily. I will complete this 8 weeks at this range and adjust as necessary if needed. My training regiment is each body part 2x's per week in the high rep range of 15-20 reps and 20-25 total sets per body part. I will go above or below this amount instinctively by the mindset of when I leave the gym Im 100% thrashed and the 15lb dumbbells and/or the olympic bar feels heavy! Day 1 Chest/Tri, Day 2 Back/bis, Day 3 Legs/Shoulders, Day 4 rest, Day 5-7 repeat. 1-2 times per week I add one heavy day with low reps and max poundage on Bench, Deads, and Squats. For years Ive followed low rep super heavy protocol so Im changing this up drastically to reach new goals, give my joints a rest and hopefully stimulate some new muscle growth while sustaining a level of strength in the big 3 lifts.

Cardio has been consistent but hasn't produced any loss in BF% as of yet. May have to kick it up some more and continue to slowly reduce calories. My plan is to only lower calories to the point that I start to lose weight slowly. At this point not trying to put on anymore mass as I want to end this last 8 weeks of the cycle in the direction of losing BF while maintaining what little strength and mass I attained while on cycle as much as possible. Im feeling much better in energy which I attribute to more sleep, lower calories and a slight reduction in the amount of test I was taking. Hate to change directions at this point but must be honest to self and that is that Im carrying far too much body fat. My new direction will be to get down where I need to be and that is 15% and under. I love working to add mass and strength but I think at my age and having too much body fat is negatively affecting attaining true lean gains. With excess body fat also carries excess estrogen. I want to get where I should have been long ago and then and only then work towards adding mass again in a lean fashion opposed to eating the entire refrigerator. As far as training I will continue my higher rep scheme along with weekly core lifts super heavy to maintain a level of strength. I have enjoyed this new routine and seeing slow and steady progress in overall conditioning. My final frustration was that I managed to put 3/4 in on my chest at 51 inches. My largest chest measurement to date BUT my DAMN ARMS have stayed 17.85 and 18 in. This is probably due to the fact that I have had to work around tennis elbow and nagging bicep issue but I still never stopped training. I just changed my intensity to higher reps and pushed through it. BTW the higher reps for chest and benching just 225 for many sets of as many reps as possible I attribute to my gain in my chest size to include higher rep bent rows still using a moderate weight. Surprisingly my shoulders feel fantastic but my elbows are shot to hell.

Glad to see the shift in thinking, Nash. No reason to ever be over 15% if you're running gear. It's the harsh truth many guys don't want to face, but once you take the time to lower your body fat your bodybuilding efforts will improve dramatically. Your health improves. You look better, feel better. And you actually look bigger which I think is the point of all this. Last summer when I went from 21% to 15% in 9 weeks I told myself that I was going to lose all my muscle and it was OK. I had to lose the fear of getting smaller and embrace it. I'm thankful I did. If you keep doing cardio and keep eating clean, you'll get to where you want to be. And with your mass, you'll look phenomenal. Keep grinding, brother.

Nothing significant to report. Gains in training are very slow but steady. Only a few rep and/or weight increases across the board in pretty much all lifts. Its better but Im still nursing around bicep issue which never seems get back to 100%. As for me I have found that Test E my sweet spot is 600-750 mg/wk. Ive been doing 900mg wk now for some time and no significant difference whatsoever. Im not sure yet but I think that increase did nothing for me but increase the sides which is where I think the lethargy came from and chest acne. So I backed my dose down to 650mg/wk. Going to get bloodwork this week or next to see where I am at. Still loving the high rep training and believe that it will produce some good gains. I know that I will have to be patient at 44yrs old, gains are slower, the body fights getting bigger, fights getting leaner, and just acts like a punk ass bitch at times! One thing I failed to do is consistent cardio. I started but have been very inconsistent. My goal this week is everyday this week and throughout the summer no matter what. Light steady cardio with a few alternating days of high intensity kill my self cardio type to work on reducing BF.

Nash, when was the last time you donated blood? I had lethargy that lingered for awhile until I did a double RBC donation and it was gone by the time I left the blood center parking lot.

Update: Had a good chest session this morning with an increase in reps on 225lbs. Ive been working trying to get bench press of 4 sets of 20 at 225. First set 20 reps, got the 2nd set at 17 reps, 3rd/ for 13, 4th for 12 reps. Sharp drop off in reps but A few weeks ago I could only get 225 for 18 reps and the following sets dropped off even more than the latter.. Taking 2-3 min rest between sets. My conditioning is showing progress. I have a long way to go before I get 4 sets for 20 but thats the goal Im working towards. No growth in measurement increase in chest or arms but feeling full, hard and vascular. Holding steady on my weight but experiencing fluctuations of 1-3lbs +/- daily. Now that Im 100% recovered from being sick and diet is solid I think I will start to see some progress in size, although Im working towards small steady gains and keeping my calories in check just above TDEE to avoid any further fat gain. Its a science Im still learning to master. Lethargy is still present but not as bad as it was last week. Ive noticed a trend in me that I havent experienced and that is that Im finding that I need more sleep to fully recover. Ive always been a 4 to 5 hrs a night for years. With how hard Im pushing myself now, thats not working anymore. I find that any more than 3 days of 4-5hrs of sleep and I crash mentally and physically on the 4th/5th day. Im working to get at least 6hrs now but its a paradigm shift and significant behavioral change for sure. I know I should work to get 8hrs or more and know that my gains and progress will most likely be better. Im a stubborn SOB to no avail. My body adapted to this amount of sleep a long time ago so its all Ive known which is why Im a coffee junkie. Hope to see better progress now with more sleep and staying on point with my diet. I'm kicking ass in training, thats the easy part for me.

Thanks Sieg. Yeah its just as hard to lift a heavy weight for high reps. Its taken me a pretty good while just to do one set of 225 for 20 reps and now Im working to get 4 sets of 20. Im confident if I do, that will produce some results and growth.

It's pretty cool watching the rep ranges increase so quickly. It's happening over here too. Damn circadian rhythm can be a real bitch to reset. I've used heavy sleep meds in the past to accomplish that, but that wasn't the best idea. One night I woke up chewing on a compact fluorescent light bulb! Yikes. Limiting caffeine intake may help, although that can suck too. I notice on weekends I sleep better because I train earlier in the day, thus my final dose of caffeine is before noon, weekdays I have some whenever I get off work because training follows. Need the caffeine boost obviously. Well, looks you're kicking ass and taking names BN. It's certainly been a treat following your progress.

Thank you brother. Yeah same here on weekends. During the week I life late evening because my son goes with me now so we dont get back from the gym until 8pm. So Im wired for sound until 11pm or after and I get up at 4am for work. So i got to learn some techniques for winding down when I get back from the gym quickly. Wouldn't miss training with my son for nothing though so rest or not, Im not changing my time with him.

Just re read this post. I trade nothing for time with my daughter. Nothing.... I started listening to jazz on the drive home from the gym, chills me out a little so I can ease back into home life. Piano jazz works pretty good, or some Wes Montgomery.

Update: Finally through sickness and nearly 100%. Still holding steady no gain or loss in weight or measurements. Had a fantastic back session. Deads 5 sets of 5 reps. Bent rows 225lbs for 15 reps, 4 sets. Rack pulls 3 sets of 10 with 405lbs. Finished with giant sets w no rest between lifts of Pull downs, hammer strength rows, shrugs, and high pulls 4 rounds of all these with 15-20 reps. Back felt great. Its really hard for me to fell a pump in my back and the giant sets got me there. Diet was jacked this weekend due to company and carting the wifey around all weekend. Meal prepping tonight and get back on track for start of the work week. Joints are doing okay but still working around bicep tendon pull. Hasn't affected my deadlift or pulling so much as its damn painful doing direct bicep work. I used light weights and gravity stretched muscle with very slow reps on left arm. This seemed to help because my bicep felt really good today whereas for the past week it was nagging even during rest and when I wasn't going to the gym while sick. Compression sleeves are a lifesaver once again. Pinning is going fine. Although I pinned my leg/tear drop this week and hadn't for a while. Pip was there for sure... lol Physically lately I have been pretty lethargic. I thought it was the sickness but Im still feeling pretty tired despite getting good sleep this weekend. I thinking maybe a side affect of taking Test e at 900mg/wk. Ive never taken this high of a dose and usually stay around 700 to 800 max. Not sure. Its not severe but feel like I can lay down at any given time and take a nap if I wanted to which usually only occurs when Im severely sleep deprived or long work week.

I had that lethargic feeling when I was at 1000mgs test p. I believe it was due to elevated E2; I took 1/2 tab of aro and that fixed the problem. Man, I like that back routine. You're a strong m-fer BN! I too have a time getting a good back pump; I can achieve it by high reps and holding at peak contraction for 2 seconds and/or slow eccentric. Great job brother!

Update: This week has been a rough one. Got strep throat and been down for 4 days now. I usually pop back in 2 days max from most any sickness and havent been sick for a long time so this one kicked my ass. I never miss work and I had to take off most of this week. Yes Im being a candy ass and whinning. Im about to lose my mind laying around this long, no training and about to crawl up the walls being cooped up in this house.. Going back to work and hitting chest/tris tomorrow no matter what. Ive been force feeding water and large quantities of Vitamin C but this actually hasn't seemed to help this go around. Antibiotics will hopefully dry this shit up soon. Hoping my lay off for 4 days may give my joints and muscles a little rest as they need it despite being sick. Will work to stay really hydrated and kick ass tomorrow. Will be working towards a high rep/ little to no rest between sets to get a good sweat going on and rid all these impurities.

Lovely. 1260 for 17. My man is a monster. You're crushing the higher reps program, Nash. Think of how much more stimulation you're getting from 17 reps with such heavy weight than you would be if you were hitting that 3-5 range. So much more Time Under Tension. So much more tissue being broken down. Fantastic work. I run into that sometimes with Squats. A lot of it has to do with my hip mobility. I spend a good 30 minutes before I Squat working hamstrings and in between sets do my best to open up my hips via stretching. Some days they want to open up, some days they don't. Some days I can get 315 for 20, some days I can't. After this cycle we should do some Yoga together ;)

Im truly loving the higher rep range A. Ive learned that you can damn sure still go heavy, you just need to redefine what heavy is and rep that shit out. New pump and burn like never before along with a muscle exhaustion I hadn't experienced in a long time with as you said so much time under tension. After the leg press I could barely walk and it felt truly fantastic, my quads/hams/knees felt like they would buckle at any moment. The mind muscle connection is really coming along. Add in the fact that I was pissed off my adrenaline was in high gear and I kept mind screaming one more rep. Way past the pain barrier, tunnel vision for a moment of blissfulness....Truly love and strive for those moments of refusing to quit no matter what. Not sure what happened on the squats, maybe as you said hips and also lower back. Higher rep back work earlier in the weak may have left me a little pre-fatigued. But I have experienced this plenty of times. It seems I either have it that day or not. I just hate the drastic difference in strength. I could see a few reps difference but not half. I get sideways pissed and over think it. Yeah some yoga may be in order.. lol. I used to consistently do mobility/flexibility work (Joe Defranco's Limber 11/Agile 8 www.defrancostraining.com) which helped greatly and I need to get back to doing that program. Easy to get lazy on the supporting work required in this game. I like stretching and fully realize its importance but havent made it a a priority like I should to remain mobile. Thanks for the feedback brother.

Week 1: This week I pinned - Mon: 300 Test E, 150 NPP - Wed: 300 Test E, 150 NPP - Fri: 300 Test E, 150 NPP Pins have been smooth and no PIP. Training this week was great but nothing in the area of progress in upper body. My heavy lift this week was squats. I went down a few reps and felt a little weak. I typically get 6-8 reps of 405lbs and I struggled to get 4 reps last night. This pissed me off so I said fuck that and went to leg press. I was able to get 1,260lbs for 17 reps. New high rep PR for me in this lift! Had my knees wrapped tight and the lift felt awesome. Had to pause between reps after 10 but all reps were knees to chest deep. Leg extensions and curls were brutal afterwards. Great leg day despite a shitty squat session.
