Vitamin C

Hey guys! I hope everyone is doing good today!

I was curious how many of you take Multi's or maybe some extra Vitamin C supplements while on cycle? The reason I ask is because I have the worst luck when it comes to getting sick around this time of year and I really don't want to have to deal with something like that in the middle of a cycle. I can't do multi that often because of the Vitamin B12 in it, so I was thinking some vitamin c pill's may be worth the investment

Personally my vitamin

Personally my vitamin supplementation did not change on or off cycle. I have been taking a good quality multi for years and will continue to do so.

I don't do it myself but it might not be a bad idea to include extra vitamin C during the cold & flu season and/or maybe an immune boosting supplement if you find yourself susceptible to a cold or flu. Vitamin C is cheap and you can't overdose with it. ;)

Not keeping your e2 within an acceptable range can cause your immune system to become weakened.

Owww... nice catch Dolf about the possibility. +3

Sometimes we tend to forget about those things when we are messing with our hormones.

Best defense against common

Best defense against common seasonal illnesses is strengthening your immune system through the food/diet you consume IMO.  Try and improve quality of groceries as much as you can afford.

Supplementation is good, but should be used as a "Supplement" to an overall solid base consumption.  That said, I do use a whole food multivitamin along with fish oil, Vit D, and K2 year round.

As said above, out of balance hormones can weaken the system, as well as poorly made underground oils.  Exogenous substances trigger immune response.  How strong the immune response depends on the substance.  While reaponding to that substance, it takes away from responding to other things (viruses) as strongly as normal.

The simple act of hard

The simple act of hard training week in week out can lower your immune system function.  So that being said and assuming we all here train hard it would be advisable to do whatever we can to support our immune systems .... and yes Vit C is a cheap and easy method to do this.  Naturally there are many many other supplements, foods, etc... that support the immune system but I believe the original question was with regard to Vit C so I will spare everyone my nutrition dissertation.  Suffice it to say that I myself have a fairly large regimen of daily supplements to add to my already diverse and healthy diet.  Today is Meal Prep Sunday so please excuse my being very focused on diet today ... Currently have chicken and rice cooking along with broccoli and beans cooling .... and a pile of empty tupperware containers lined up like soldiers waiting for their supplies .... Gotta love Meal Prep

Great note Miagi!  Remember

Great note Miagi!  Remember changes in Hormones that we do will effect your immune system in many ways. I just learned the hard way to ramp up into a cycle for my metabolism so as to not throw things off too drastically too quickly. Still diet and nutrition are the big areas, take care of rapid changes of temperature to skin as well as that can shock the system and allow illness to take hold.

Vitamin C is largely debated. 20+ years ago a doctor did a study and said use 1,000 a day of V-C and you will never get a cold. That has been largely debunked scientifically but people find it works for them so they continue to use it with great success. REMEMBER THE PLACEBO EFFECT and use it to your advantage!  Likewise when you are around sick people remember to tell yourself that YOU are taking V-C and have a great diet and exercise program and that the sickness can't take hold within your immune system because it's too damn strong!  -this will do more good than the vitamin from a positive and negative placebo effect application!

Remember deep breathing. One of the reasons athletes can handle such extremes and not get sick as often as sedentary people is the deep breathing associated with working out, let alone jogging or biking. Deep breathing steadily activates the Lymphatic system which causes the body to go on overdrive for (white?) blood cell production and immune system working super hard for self healing.

Lastly I take every day year round way too many vitamins. Centrum, Fish Oil, Other Oil, 1,000 C, B-complex, baby aspirin, lutein for eyes, as well as 'live vit.' in drinks/blending.  Be careful with non-water soluble, you don't want to overdose on vitamins but most, like mine, just make for expensive pee.

My apologies if this was too long.

PS: MANY studies have proven beyond a doubt that regular sex will do you more good in this area than any medication and most exercise.  I try to mention that fact to my wife weekly :-)
